Cider has been produced for centuries in the West Country with at one point almost every farm producing it’s own cider. Today cider is enjoying a bit of resurgence, thanks to companies such as Magners & Strongbow with their multimillion-pound TV advertisements; but there are just a handful of people left producing cider using the traditional methods. This traditional cider is becoming increasingly rare in our pubs; often it is bought direct from the farm.
This project started out to document traditional Somerset cider being produced but as the project progressed I began to notice the certain lack of a younger generation lined up eager to learn the work of their forefathers. This series of images are intended to document the faces that still produce traditional cider in these farms today.
